Joint development with Railway Technical Research Institute (RTRI)

To correspond to the high-speed operation of electric rail vehicles, it is required to promote coordination between the power source, feeding circuits and electric rolling stock. This makes it extremely important to assess the load condi tions at substations. For this purpose, Showa Electronics has developed various measuring instruments under the guidance of Power Supply Technology Division, Research and Development Promotion Department, RTRI.

 

Load area measuring instrument (R-X analyzerII)

To most appropriately adjust distance relays, the load area measuring instrument
(R-X analyzer) correctly measures the train load impedance, with respect to the relevant substation, and displays and records the protection area of the distance relays and train impedance on R-X charts.

Harmonic analyzer

The harmonic content rate-measuring instrument is used to analyze low-order harmonics in AC currents. It measures the fundamental to the seventh order harmonic either as an option or on a regular basis, and digitally records the maximum content rate of each harmonic. It draws a one-quadrant graph with the fundamental harmonic on the X-axis and other harmonics on the Y-axis, and a four-quadrant graph of the locus of phase difference vectors between the fundamental voltage waveform and the 3rd current harmonic.

AC feeding current waveform analyzer

The AC feeding current waveform analyzer automatically analyzes and records the low-order harmonic content rate and the phase angle. These are based on the record and waveform of accident current in AC feeding circuits.

Voltage regulation measuring instrument

The voltage regulation measuring instrument analyzes the voltage regulation of AC feeding circuits and three-phase side power source, analogously outputs the actual voltage, the voltage regulation, and the unbalance rate. Then it records the frequency of voltage occurrence as a bar graph.
